Badminton competition

Competition time: 10 am to 6 pm

Registration time: 9:15 am to 9:45 am

Competitions:  Men’s singles (8 players), Ladies’ singles (8 players), Ladies’ doubles (8 teams), Mixed doubles (8 teams); Men’s doubles:  Advanced (8 teams), Intermediate (8 teams) and Beginner (8 teams) group.

Competition rules:

Mainly in accordance with the rules of the Hong Kong Badminton Association, please refer to the appendix for revisions, exceptions and precautions.

Eligibility: 14 years of age or older on the day of the competition (parent consent is required for those under 18).

Registration fee: Registration before the deadline of the competition 18th May 2019, the single-player Competition charges 150 HKD per person, and each doubles pair charges 300 HKD per pair (150 HKD per person). Each person can participate in up to two category. (singles and doubles or Mixed doubles and doubles)

Precautions:

In most cases, the registration fee will not be refunded and will be converted for other purposes by the association.

Participants must report to the designated registration office in person at the venue during the registration period on the day of competition.

Participants who are late will be disqualified and will not be refunded.  Only the event organiser reserves the right to accept contestants who have been reported late.

Organizational rules

1. Four teams per group in the preliminary round, a round robin-cycle will be use, each game will play up to 21 points with no setting. Players must swap playing court when the 1st team reached the score of 11.  There will be up to 60 seconds of resting period before the game proceeds again. Winner and 1st runners up of each group will proceed to the semi –finals.

2   For the semi-finals, winner of the first group will play against the 1st runners up of the second group and vice versa.  Each game will play up to 21 points with no setting. Players must swap playing court when the 1st team reached the score of 11.  There will be up to 60 seconds of resting period before the game proceeds again. Winner of the game will proceed to the finals.

3. For the finals, players will play one game of up to 21 points with setting, when the score is 20/20, the first team wins with two points lead after that. Players must swap playing court when the 1st team reached the score of 11.  There will be up to 60 seconds of resting period before the game proceeds again and a 3 mins rest at 20/20 if required. When the score is 29/29, the first team who reach 30 wins.

4. When there are less than 8 singles entry and less than 6 doubles pair in the competition, the committee has the right to re-arrange the competition for better quality of play.

5. Players who participate in the competition must arrive at the venue on time and report to the Competition organizer.  If the time has elapsed (the time is based on the venue clock on the wall), the team who is under-represented, the supervisor has the right to declare the team abstained and withdrawn from the match, not refund will be provided. If the match starting is late for more than 10 minutes, the score of 21:0 will be awarded to the present team as the final score of the game.
